Week 8

Kia ora koutou,

Yes, Friday already! and what a week!

We've had the Tryathlon on Monday. Thank you to all the volunteer marshals, we couldn't have done it without you.

We would just like to give a huge thank you to all those parents that attended the literacy information afternoon. Here's an invitation to a workshop if you're interested in seeing what the sessions look like.

Things you need to know:

HEAD LICE: We have been informed of a case of head lice. Please check your child's hair regularly to avoid spreading.
There has also been a discovery of an effective, easy to-use product called: "Dimethicone Lotion by Healthe". All parents have to do is coat hair from roots to tips. Leave overnight for a minimum of 8 hours. Comb through hair if necessary. Wash with normal shampoo and conditioner. Repeat treatment after 7 days.

UNION MEETING: You may remember that teachers and principals took strike action twice last year to send a message to the Government that more needed to be done to fix the teacher shortage and make teaching a more sustainable and attractive profession.
NZEI Te Riu Roa has resumed negotiations with the Ministry. Progress in negotiations will be reported to teachers and principals at paid union meetings around the country in the week of March 18-22nd.
NZEI Te Riu Roa members at our school will attend a paid union meeting on Thursday 21 March at 1:30pm.
We would really appreciate it if you could pick your child/ren up at 1:00pm on this day. If this is impossible, can you please let Kathryn know by emailing her at admin@clarkville.school.nz .
We will arrange alternative supervision at school for the afternoon.
The bus will run at 1.00pm.
Thanks for your co-operation in this important matter.

GALA: Please make sure you've put your name down for the baking.

GROYNES TRIP: A notice was sent home yesterday with information regarding a trip to the Groynes to support our inquiry. Please return this notice early next week so we can start organising parent help. Thank you!

NETBALL: Clarkville netball is still looking for a couple more year 3/4 players.
Clarkville Netball registrations are still open. We are looking for a couple more players for the year 3/4 grade teams. If you are interested, please register at the link here or email clarkvillenetballclub@gmail.com

What's on next week:

Thursday: NZEI union meeting. Pick up 1pm.
Friday: GALA 4-7pm

Week 7

What's happening this week:

  • Tryathlon starts at 11am on Monday. Please make sure your child has all the equipment they need to take part.
  • Literacy meeting for all parents of year 1-4 students. Wednesday 3:15pm in team Tūhura.
  • Assembly on Friday.
Important information you need to know:

  • Egg Allergy - We have a student in the school with a severe egg allergy. We ask the whole community to support us with keeping this student safe by not sending eggs to school in lunches. Eggs in baking are fine but we request that egg sandwiches, hard-boiled eggs and bacon and egg pies are treats saved for home.
  • Please start bringing reading folders to school. This will ensure that all books and games will be looked after.
  • Gala-The bake sale sign up is outside Tūhura. Please put your name up on the sign in sheet with what you're wanting to bake.
  • We are heading in the Groynes for the day on Monday 25 March. Please put this in your dairy, a letter will be coming out next week to explain why we are doing this field trip and for parent helpers.
